Edith Wharton was born 150 years ago, on January 24, 1862 in New York City. She died August 11, 1937, at age 75 in France. She was an American novelist, short story writer, and designer. Her novel THE AGE OF INNOCENCE won the Pulitzer Prize in 1921. She became the first woman to win the award.
